Patrick Jansen

My name is Patrick Jansen and I am Assistant Professor at Wageningen University (same group as Frank van Langevelde) as well as Program Coordinator at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama. My PhD was on seed dispersal by scatter-hoarding rodents in French Guiana, and I am now responsible for a wide range of tropical and temporal projects in the broad field of community ecology, ranging from seed dispersal and seed predation, to host-parasite interactions and predator-prey interactions. I am particularly interested in effects of (partial) defaunation, for example due to predator persecution and bushmeat poaching, on community composition and ecosystem functioning. I am joining this course to refresh and improve my fundamental knowledge of consumer-resource interactions, and because the lecturers are the absolute top.
